D'Sar returned to Kjeldoran, after the meeting of the Immortals, to an empty Tower. Everything was gone. All those of his former clan were either evacuated or simply vacated. The air was musty. It was a smell more dead than the undead that once walked it's hallowed halls. D'Sar thought to himself, "Captain Kurgan will most likely be dumbfounded upon his return to find it is a house with all it's children gone."
So there he stood in an empty hall. "Now what?" he thought. He found one of his scrying pools and looked in on the streets of Kjeldoran. People wandered aimlessly, looking like homeless beggars by the looks on their faces. Some still wearing colors of clans that no longer existed, others wearing former uniforms, with the insignia's ripped off. The air of despair and depression was abound. The feeling of family was ripped from them by their gods as they traversed the city feeling forsaken, forlorn and forgotten.
D'Sar LIKED that feeling. It was the basis for the brood. Taking those who felt dejected needed a home... A family. Now it was time for a NEW brood. His dream of the Infernal Order of D'Sar was now something within his grasp... although in infant stage. Now it needed broodmates taken from the fodder of the realms. Thusly, he decided it may be time to begin his new campaign. Using powers only immortals could posses, he piped propaganda via mental intrusion. He snickered as he spewed thoughts such as "Feeling a little Undead lately but have no home", "Looking for a little Order in your life?"
This was amusing to him. It seemed to darken his day.
The responses came shortly, but slowly over the following several days. There were some of the familiar faces, such as former Tower Commander Volrath, who had come home to roost. Speaking of roosts, another was former Silent Ravens Leader, Duragon with whom D'Sar had conspired with earlier on the secret alliance between the Ravens and Tower. The wayward Montressor, former goodling of the Masters of Magic, had decided his heart was darker than the Master's could handle. He joined with reluctant arrogance yet with commitment and conviction. But this may be cause for dissention as he has problems with authority.
And onward they came...slowly at first. They moved into the old Tower for the time being. D'Sar would spend his days in interdimensional planes, building a newer, more modern citadel. A fortress of evil so intense, with pitfalls and traps for those NOT of the brood, that it would be nearly impenetrable.
While he was away, Others were being recruited. There was talk of a legendary Captain of Tower who desired return, but his desertion never went unrecorded in D'Sarian Lore, and if he desired to return to greatness, he would have to work hard to gain the graces of the gods favour in this matter, starting with D'Sar. Darkstar loves his broodmates, both current and former, yet his tolerance level has dropped considerably. No longer is he as forgiving of brood members with poor attitude. The Infernal Order was
A fraternal institution now. No longer was it to be rented space on a map for undead cretins.
There was grumbling in the brood already. With no official leader appointed, capable squads of killers could not come to agreement on whom should lead any death strikes. Some ranks given purely for merit and not for command were being abused. Word of this annoyed the DarkLord. Some thought that those who held rank in the old regime should be starting anew, as all new clannies should. All in all, D'Sar believes them to be acting more like children than fighting men who knew how to get a job done. Merit and rank in battle comes from victories over enemies. Leadership comes from the ability to gain the trust of ones men. D'Sar contemplates that the feuding warriors should lead in shifts, as to be judged by the immortals on whom is best fit for the job.
Commander Volrath seems to be fitting into the Counselor role as of late... Something not seen in days long past, yet this has nothing to do with anyone's terms of leadership. Every Darklord needs an liaison to the troops on occasion.
It's a rocky transition for all, what with bickering over barracks bunks and all. As it would appear, there is no paradise without pain it would seem.
This blog will be the official clan blog for the Infernal Order of D'Sar, a clan on the Time of Darkness MUD.
