Mid November BoRCom Update

Greetings!

Thanksgiving quickly approaches in America, I'd like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has ever posted a blog here, referred a friend, donated a doubloon or two and just been a general member of BoRCom. We're here because you're here and every day I sit back and look at this place and am deeply grateful for your patronage.

I have a request to make of you. I currently have 200 @blogsofroleplay.com email addresses in the system and I'm wondering who if anyone actually uses the address. All addresses are entered into Notifications so my request is simple. If you use and want to keep the address, please just click reply and type 'yes' or whatever you want so I know it's an active account. I'm not going on a mass deleting spree but when we move servers I'll probably leave some of the dead wood behind. Thank you for your cooperation!

The server move has been the big thing on my mind for the past month. With the onset of the holiday season and the chaos that comes with the merry-making, the Elf Crew and I have decided to postpone the move until the beginning of January. January is such an anti-climactic month as it is and the Farmers Almanac is predicting a hellacious Winter this year so this will give us and you something positive in an otherwise bleak month. The donations have continue to trickle in and I can't thank you all enough.

What is not going to wait until January is the addition of MT 3.xx to BoRCom. I could play it safe and wait but I've had requests for Version 3 blogs and I want to give what people ask for.

A new domain is being registered this week. This domain will be home to the MT 3 blogs. I'll be posting an individual entry just on this shortly so I won't get into it too much here but all will be combined together into a community setting with one central location for all the domains, blogs, bloggers, etc.

I had someone ask me last week about becoming part of the Elf Crew and BoRCom Staff. Yes, I would like to have someone besides myself handling things and a quality staff is always a blessing from the Gods. If you are interested in becoming a certified Elf Crew member, send me an email and we'll chat over grog and honey cookies.

With that said, I'm going to close this update and get to cleaning my office here. May this onset of holiday season 2004 bring you all serenity and good juju.

November News

Greetings!

It's a cold and rainy November morning and the Elf Crew and I are hard at work getting ready for some major changes.

I'd like to extend my deepest thanks and appreciation to those of you who donated to the cause. Yes I am still accepting donations, there is always cost involved with running a server and licenses. It means more to me than I can put into words to know people care about this site so once again I thank you.

The move will be taking place some time this month before the Thanksgiving holiday in the states (November 25th). I will give plenty of notice and all blogs will be fully backed up before the move. I'll post more on the move in the Dev Blog as it comes closer but if the Fates are kind, it will be a smooth and painless transition. (Famous last words...)

Gamers who wish to send banners for advertising, the standard banner size or around there works. I believe it's 460x80 or something around there, as long as it isn't too large I'd be more than happy to add it to the Banner page.

I've had to turn a few requests away over the past few weeks. I'd like to take a moment to reiterate what this domain is. This is not a free journal space for the daily events of life. There are a few blogs that are not always RP but the authors are RPGers and their games are written about.

This domain is not a general journal domain, we offer that at the much neglected sister site, BlogsOfRealplay.com. Realplay isn't really open as it only has a few blogs and will be easy to upgrade to straight version 3 but it's open for anyone who wants an out of character blog.

Any blogs that incorporate popups into their layout will be removed, this is not a place for you to advertise viagra. Enough unpleasantness.

The November Blog of the Month has been selected and I must say that my son and Muse that Mews, Claude the Cat, was the deciding factor in this month's winner. Siamese Sensibilities is a wonderful blog written from the mind of one very shrewd feline who knows exactly how to get and maintain control. The blog also has a wonderful design and a good command of categories. A recommended read for all!

The November Website of the Month is once again not one of ours but I can't force people to submit their own sites. It is however, one of the more brilliant sites I have ever found by accident. The author is beyond talented and if you go to look, please take a moment to explore the entire domain, it's worth it. BoRCom has no affiliation to website or author, this is just sheer brilliance and it deserves to be pointed out.

As is the case in the beginning of each month, the following blogs have been removed from the system for never having posted for three months and one for offensive and abusive language of another poster:

A Half-Elf's Journal - Robledo
Akavir - Rob L.
Arden Carleon - Giacomo
Braenne - Braenne
Eye Into a Maelstrom - Gabriel Malstrom
Oreias - Oreias
Peaceful Center - Trister
Walbaran's Ramblings - Walbaran

Pretty short and to the point this time, hopefully November will fill up with good server moving juju and an increase in the community activity of this domain.

PS - Apologies to Slazzurus and Angeleon of Shadow Siege for the delay in your blog creation. As of this posting all blogs that needed to be created have been created.
