A small letter lies on a table within the Library of Guardian Hall.
Dear Taryn,
I have come across a situation as of late of which you may well be able to shed some light onto. You see, not a few weeks ago it came to my attention that I in fact have a son of sixteen years of age. Showing up on my doorstep claimed to be of my blood. The product of a relationship I had prior to leaving my original homeland. His mother having passed, he had sought me out as his closest of kin. Though I believed him, a paternity spell proved the boy to be correct. As such I have of course taken him into my home. Here is where the trouble begins.
The boy sneaks out of the Manor late at night constantly, the other morning he
went so far as to sneak the airship out and was caught by the TPAA, only to
be returned to my doorstep once again under a warning as he has yet to earn his license. I blame his mother's side, acts such as this never happened when I was his age. He constantly shirks his studies much to my dismay. His guildmaster has written a letter requesting a parent-guildmaster conference next week.
As of late, he is associating with this Tony Jr. character in downtown Westbridge. I'm afraid such influences as this are causing him to act out in ways which aggravate me to no end. I have tried taking away his sword privileges, but this only serves to further urge him to perfect the art of driving me further to the brink of insanity. Last night I found a bag full of narcotic substances under his mattress. When asked where he had acquired them, he disclosed that New Thalos was the source. He told me that they give him special abilities when he takes them..Hah! And I thought I had heard it all.
I am trying to decide whether to keep him with me, or if perhaps it's best
that I send him off to Torregiano to complete his studies under more experienced of eyes. Though I have combed the libraries and found books on Makou Reactors, histories of races, and special quotes, I have yet to come across one for fathers with no experience.
Yours truly,
A Frustrated Father-in-Training
----
Dear Frustrated Father:
I was quite the rebel in my younger years. I was a skilled thief and had quite the
fancy for using the art of persuasion to get things that I wanted that I couldn't steal.
This rebellious streak was just that, but it took being sent to the Holy Grove to
live with the druids to cure that. Maybe sending him to Torregiano may help, but then again having him close to you and giving him a good whap on the head with your staff could help too.
Seriously though, there isn't a book or scroll to teach parenting, but from what I am seeing you are trying hard to be a good example. Set a timeline for yourself and if at that time you are not seeing the results you had hoped for, consider your Torregiano option.
Either way I wish you the best of luck
Penned by my hand,
Taryn, Priestess of Chauntea
