(This is a re-print from the ToD Forums, which some of you are too lazy to go and read. The link is right here to your right, use it. Only replies sent via the Forums will be considered)
I think it's time to bring some life back to this board. All the boards.
That aside, I'm feeling a need to breathe some new and fresh air into ToD. This is partially to save me from the burnout I'm feeling and to give some new air to the mud in general.
I'm not looking for many but I think a few new Immortals would be good juju.
YOU:
You must be willing to work. This isn't about hanging out in Jamaica sitting wizi and playing your morts.
You must be willing to build in Chuck, often alone, and actually finish what you start. If you don't know how to build we will help you but you must be on and working.
If you are on the main port, you must be vis to all and willing to do things. No need to entertain all the time, you're not Bette Midler, but you should do title quests, load a mob here and there, things like that.
You must be able to separate your mortals from your Immortal. We don't care what clan your mortal is in, if you can't rise to a different level as an Immortal, go home.
You must have a fairly clean record on the mud, known cheaters need not apply.
You may take over patronage of one of the clans as long as the clan members are ok with it. The ability to RP is also necessary as the focus shifts back to Chuck.
You are never to discuss Chuck with any of your friends and trust me, I'll know.
You must be willing to blog, either in RP form as as a sort of 'staff diary' about what you are doing. This is something I plan to incorporate into all Immortals so it's not just picking in the newb.
You must show that you can form a sentence. People from other countries are not excluded, I'm not looking for the proficiency in English. I'm looking for people who don't say 'u' and 'omg' and 'pwnt' and other crap like that.
You must exhibit leadership abilities. Are you a forum poster? Become one. Blog reader? Do it.
The positions will open at 105 and there are no limits on how high you may raise.
As usual, I have nothing to offer as payment, this is a labour of love. Web space, email accounts, stuff like that we have but ToD imms are not compensated in any way on their morts.
If you think you might be interested, please reply to me in a U2U private message here and I'll get back to you either way.
Thank you for your time.
Another update, mudtards!
Most of you have noticed but for those of you who are a little less than swift, I'd like to take a moment here to officially welcome everyone's favourite Seal back into the jacuzzi and Time of Darkness. Yes, I am referring to Meathe. Welcome home, Meathead, you were missed!
Time of Darkness is currently looking for one Immortal. This is a mid level position that will begin at 105 and can rise to 107 or 108, depending on how the person hired handles the job.
This is a general Immortal position, you do not need OLC experience or Immortal experience.
You will be responsible for social interaction. When the MUD is quiet and there are a few bored lazy people on, it will be up to you to come up with something to keep them entertained. You will be responsible for a Trivia Quest of 100 questions once or twice a month. You will be responsible for scavenger hunts, silly mobs to beat on and giving out newbie packs. You will be the go-between that players come to before approaching the Imps with situations.
As this is a socially active position, you must be able to commit to twenty hours a week of MUDding, anything less will result in Donald Trump making a personal appearance to let you know you're fired. You must have a sharp sense of humour and thick skin. You must have a moderately clean record and no serious rule breakage on your history. You must know how to keep secrets and not break confidences. You must be willing to create and maintain a blog.
As always, the job is an unpaid one. Immortals get no perks for their mortal characters. What we can offer is: your own @timeofdarkness.com email address; free top of the line webhosting for your domain if you have one; a sub-domain if you don't have a domain of your own; the opportunity to patron a clan and what I think is the best perk - the friendships you will form in the jacuzzi. The Immortals of ToD are ALL friends. We genuinely get along, we genuinely like each other, we genuinely trust each other. This is a rare thing to find on ANY game and it's something we want to keep.
Working on ToD is not easy, I'm not the easiest person to work with *coughs* and I have high expectations from the staff and myself. Working on ToD is however, pretty good mental juju.
So that's that, I have thrown out the chum and now we sit back and wait to see what bites. If you are interested in the job, please send me an email (if you have to ask what the email address is, the job is not for you). Please be sure to include the names of alts and for the love of God, use the spellcheck before you send.
The hunt begins.
Well well well well WELL........
Everyone stop and drop to your knees and thank Ahriman the Alien! Thanks to his skills at peacemaking, he managed to bring together people who needed to be brought together and the result was an amazing one.
Time of Darkness is once again lucky to have the man who was truly the most capable and skilled coder I have ever seen the work of or worked with. No request was ever too much, no task too intense, no pipe dream unfulfilled.
And now he has returned and we are ready to rock the world. It's been an interesting nine months, we've managed to stay afloat and even add a few new things but the air has grown a bit stale and now the fresh winds of change can blow into the Realms.
There are going to be some changes around here, folks. Buckle your seatbelt and when you see him stop and yell WELCOME BACK, COYOTE!
**Cross-posted on the ToD forums***
Here's the thing.
I've got about 20 areas in Chuck that are in need of finishing. They're good areas that were made for ToD and I don't want to pull them but they're incomplete.
They all have definite themes.
They all have wonderful room descs.
They all have mobs (some might need some mobs, I'm not sure).
None have objects.
Some are meant to have SERIOUS mprogs.
Some are filler areas to link zones (like a desert) and won't require much work.
The prog areas are extensive, ToD has an advanced prog system which we will provide complete documentation for but these areas need someone who can work magic with progs and already has some knowledge of how to do so.
ToD has fully functioning object and room progs as well so again, knowledge already needs to be there.
ToD has a strange damage system and weapon/weapon type systems, you won't be making the standard 10 or so weapon types, you'll have to pick from about 30 and work with them.
ToD has object flags for:
Race
Class
Gender
Clan
PK
NPK
Alignment
Corrosion: Three different types.
Object material must be paid attention to as it's part of the imm/res/vuln system
When an object is created on ToD, there are 27 slots to fill in.
I'm not trying to paint a grim picture here, just a realistic one. Objects on ToD aren't standard or stock and they take some time to do. So between the objects and the progs it's a complex task.
We don't have much to offer besides web space/a website/mud hosting space and eternal thanks but you'll get an imm char to build with and if it works well, Hell, we're down three imms. If all you wish to be is a silent and anonymous builder on that port, whatever floats your boat.
If interested please email kali@timeofdarkness.com and we'll talk over tea and crumpets.
